A message from the Superintendent
Dear Friends,
Thank you for visiting our District website, I hope that you find our website to be informative and helpful.
Lyford CISD is a small, rural school district that has small district charm and high academic standards. The school district is approximately 300 square miles (mostly farm and ranch land), its greater part is in Willacy County, but also it covers small portions of Hidalgo and Cameron Counties encompasses the city of Lyford and its surroundings, the town sites of Sebastian and Santa Monica, the farming communities of Alazan, Stockholm, Stillman, Los Coyotes, El Maneado, Willamar, and Porfirio.
Lyford CISD (PK-12) is fully accredited by the Texas Education Agency. Our school enrollment is approximately 1550 students. The District offers a comprehensive curriculum along with excellent extracurricular and co-curricular activities that allow opportunities for students to develop socially, physically, emotionally, as well as, intellectually. We have small town values that include high standards of discipline and a socially conservative dress code.
The District is currently a TEA Texas-Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (T-STEM) designated school district offering STEM based instruction at all three of our campuses. Our 8thgraders are part of a Region One Education Service Center federal GEAR UP grant. Through this grant we continue our efforts to sustain a district wide “college going” culture.
We work hard to ensure the highest quality of education for every student. We strive to have our campuses and classrooms safe, secure, and welcoming. Our high academic standards and positive learning environment have resulted in the following recent state accountability recognition:
·Lyford CISD – “RECOGNIZED” School District 2009, 2010, 2011
Once again, thank you for visiting our website, and may God bless our Lyford CISD students, parents, staff, and community.
Sincerely,
