Principles of effective intervention for students with dyslexia include all of the following:

  • Simultaneous, multisensory (VAKT)
  • Systematic and cumulative
  • Explicit instruction
  • Diagnostic teaching to automaticity
  • Synthetic instruction
  • Analytic instruction

Lyford CISD utilizes the:

Texas Scottish Rite program called Take Flight: A Comprehensive Intervention for Students with Dyslexia.

Take Flight contains the five components of effective reading instruction supported by the National Reading Panel research meta-analysis and mandated by the No Child Left Behind Act:

  • Phonemic Awareness
  • Phonic Skills
  • Vocabulary
  • Fluency 
  • Reading Comprehension
