United States Department Of Labor -The Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA)

The Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA), which prescribes standards for the basic minimum wage and overtime pay, affects most private and public employment. It requires employers to pay covered employees who are not otherwise exempt at least the federal minimum wage and overtime pay of one-and-one-half-times the regular rate of pay. For nonagricultural operations, it restricts the hours that children under age 16 can work and forbids the employment of children under age 18 in certain jobs deemed too dangerous. For agricultural operations, it prohibits the employment of children under age 16 during school hours and in certain jobs deemed too dangerous. The Act is administered by the Employment Standards Administration's Wage and Hour Division within the U.S. Department of Labor.

W-4 Information

The IRS urges workers to review their withholding every year and, if necessary, fill out a new W-4 and give it to their employer. For example, individuals and couples with multiple jobs, people who are having children, getting married, getting divorced or buying a home, and those who typically wind up with a balance due or large refund at the end of the year may want to consider submitting revised W-4 forms.

Direct Deposit

Lyford CISD provides their staff the courtesy to have their payroll checks to be direct deposited to a checking or savings account. Please download the Direct Deposit Form and submit to payroll at least one week before payroll to ensure that the accounts have been verified and set up. A Cancellation Authorization Form will also need to be completed whenever a direct deposit needs to be stopped. (Emails will not be accepted for this process. Please submit these documents to the payroll department via mail, inter-office mail or in person.)
